Simulation models are a surrogate for physical experimentation with a system, which is usually not cost-effective, disruptive, or simply impossible. Thus, if the model is not “valid,” any conclusions drawn from the model results are likely to be erroneous. In this seminar all major validation techniques are discussed and illustrated by examples based on actual simulation projects.

This course provides a comprehensive discussion of agent-based simulation, where autonomous agents interact with each other and their environment over time. This allows for the modeling of complex system behaviors that would be quite difficult using traditional discrete-event simulation. The course includes animated examples in application areas such as defense, supply chains/logistics, epidemiology, facility evacuations, ecology, and market behavior.

This course discusses 23 fundamental pitfalls that can cause your simulation study to end in failure. They are taken from the approximately 50 simulation studies that were performed by the author and, also, from the experiences of the 7000 to 8000 practitioners who attended his live simulation short courses. There is no course offered by Dr. Law that will give you a greater “bang for the buck.”
